The Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP) began life as the National Association of Theatre Nurses in 1964. It is a charity providing education and support to theatre nurses, Operating Department Practitioners and all those working in and around operating departments.
The new official website of the Association of Operating Theatre Practitioners Incorporated (AOTP Inc.) formerly the Western Australian Society of Anaesthesia Technicians Incorporated (WASAT Inc.).
BARNA exists to promote excellent quality of care for the patient undergoing and recovering from anaesthesia in any setting. Through its commitment to standards, education and research, BARNA supports the individual professional development of its members and encourages all members to actively participate in the association providing information, ideas and feedback. BARNA works towards the national recognition of anaesthetic and recovery nursing as specialist areas of practice.
The International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) was formed in 1992 to provide a forum for liaison between principal resuscitation organisations worldwid.
The National Association of Assistants in Surgical Practice will promote high quality surgical care by meeting the needs of the patient through continuity and the development of skilled, competent healthcare professionals.
PROPRIUS is the Organisation for Education, Training and Development Centres in Operating Department Practice.
Primarily, PROPRIUS is involved with the education of future Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs), but it is also concerned with the education of other theatre personnel, e.g. Theatre Nurses, Operating Department support staff, and is becoming increasingly involved with the provision of continuing development opportunities for all qualified theatre professionals.
The objective of the Council is to facilitate education of both lay and healthcare professional members of the population in the most effective methods of resuscitation appropriate to their needs.
The RCN represents nurses and nursing, promotes excellence in practice and shapes health policies.
The Royal College of Surgeons of England is committed to enabling surgeons to achieve and maintain the highest standards of surgical practice and patient care.
The society is the professional governing body for Critical Care Technologists. SCCT holds the voluntary register for Clinical Technologists working in Critical Care, and is an active member of the Federation of Healthcare Science, in the division of Physiological Sciences
The AAGBI has a broad constitution that enables it to promote and advance education, safety and research in anaesthesia, as well as the professional aspects of the specialty and the welfare of individual anaesthetists.
The Association of Physicians' Assistants (Anaesthesia) is the representative body of Physicians' Assistants (Anaesthesia) in the UK. The aims of the Association are to ensure the highest standards of patient care through the education and registration of PA(A)s and to promote the interests of the profession nationally.
