St John Ambulance Launches First Aid Iphone App That Could Be The Difference Between Life And Death

St John Ambulance today officially launches a first aid iPhone app that could be the difference between life and death. The app gives life saving advice that is digestible at pace and under pressure.

A simple application with a clear, attractive and intuitive graphic interface, St John Ambulances first aid app covers key major and minor emergencies and contains additional guidance on treating infants. The app provides advice on emergency situations such as choking, severe bleeding and heart attacks. It is available for iPod Touch users too.

Introduced as a beta version in February, St John Ambulances app became the UKs best selling medical app, with more than 2,200 downloads to date despite no marketing or promotion. It has been downloaded over 10,000 times across the globe.

The full launch of the app coincides with a hard-hitting ad campaign depicting 5 common situations in which first aid could have been the difference between a life lost and a life saved. Research released today highlights the lack of first aid knowledge among the Great British public: almost two-thirds of people (59%) dont feel they could save a life in an emergency, while a quarter would stand by as someone dies.

Sue Killen, CEO, St John Ambulance, said: We believe that anyone who needs first aid should receive it. Our latest research shows thats just not happening. While we would encourage people to take the responsibility to learn first aid themselves, our app makes our knowledge and experience in first aid easily accessible to iPhone users.

St John Ambulances first aid app is available from the Apple App Store now for £2.39.

St John Ambulance is committed to ensuring everyone has the basic first aid knowledge that could save someone's life. As well as the iPhone app, customers can get a free pocket-sized guide by texting LIFE to 85010. Visit the St John Ambulance website for more information on the campaign.
