NHS failings in death of OAP, 86

The health service has been forced to apologise for the mistakes it made in treating an 86-year-old patient who died in the operating theatre.

An inquest into Janet Walsh's death heard that she had been starved needlessly for 18 hours at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant, Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Cwm Taf health board said it "fully accepts" the coroner's verdict and wanted to apologise to Mrs Walsh's family "for the failings identified and furthermore we wish to assure the family that action has been taken to prevent a recurrence".
